Prof. Dr. Gökhan Gülkılık was born in Istanbul in 1974. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Istanbul. He completed his medical education at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine which offers education in English between 1992-1999. He completed his specialization training at Istanbul Vakıf Gureba Training and Research Hospital between 1999-2003. After his specialization training, he worked at Istanbul Vakıf Gureba Training and Research Hospital in the branches of cataract, glaucoma, medical retina and vitreoretinal surgery between 2003-2008. He developed his experience in the field of eye trauma at Şırnak Military Hospital between 2007-2008. He continued his studies at Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital between 2008-2011. He assumed the title of associate professor in 2010. Then, in 2011 he transferred to Istanbul Medipol University, where he served as the head of the department for 3 years.
Prof. Dr. Gökhan Gülkılık continued his active working life by following up-to-date developments and making presentations at national and international meetings. He continues to work especially on cataract, smart lens operations and complicated (difficult) cataract cases, glaucoma (eye pressure) surgeries, medical retina and vitreoretinal surgery. Apart from these, he routinely performs blepharoplasty (eyelid aesthetics), tear duct surgeries (dacryocystorhinostomy / DCR) and strabismus surgeries (strabotomy).
Prof. Dr. Gökhan Gülkılık has the International Council of Ophthalmology certificate. He is also a member of Turkish Ophthalmology Association and an Active Member of Medical Retina Division of Turkish Ophthalmology Association.
Prof. Dr. Gökhan Gülkılık has many Turkish and foreign publications and presentations. He contributed to the training of many ophthalmologists throughout his professional life.
